Anti-Lock Brake System: Operation

The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) receives and processes a wheel speed signal from each wheel sensor. When wheel lock-up is about to occur, the ECU activates ABS components to modulate hydraulic pressure to each wheel. The ABS incorporates self-diagnostic capabilities. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING  .
