Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, perform RKE system check. If scan tool indicates that DTC P1695 is active, go to next step. If scan tool indicates that DTC P1695 is not active, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS.
  2. Using scan tool, verify if diagnostic feedback indicates a "Low". Select "0" (off) to command PCM switch to "High" (open). At RKE module, jumper RKE module terminals "E" and "M". If scan tool reads that diagnostic feedback is indicating "High", replace RKE module. Clear DTC and repeat step 1). If scan tool reads that diagnostic feedback is not indicating "High", go to next step.
  3. Check RKE module terminal connections and terminal tightness. Check voltage from RKE module circuit terminal "E" and ground. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, check circuit for open or short to ground. If circuit is okay, replace PCM. Clear DTC and repeat step 1).
  4. Remove and inspect BODY fuse, located in passenger compartment fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is faulty, repair short to ground in circuit between RKE module terminal "E" and fuse block. Replace fuse. Clear DTC and repeat step 1).
  5. Check voltage between BODY fuse cavity F5 and ground. If battery voltage is present, repair open in circuit between RKE module terminal "E" and fuse block. Clear DTC and repeat step 1). If battery voltage is not present, repair open or short to ground in circuit between passenger compartment and underhood fuse block. Check IP BATT fuse and replace as necessary. Clear DTC and repeat step 1).
