RKE System Check

  1. Ensure all transmitters are present. Stand 15 feet from passenger side of vehicle. Aim transmitters at vehicle and operate all 3 buttons. Repeat procedure for each transmitter. If all functions operate properly on every button on each transmitter, system is okay. If all functions do not operate on every button on each transmitter, go to next step.
  2. If any functions operate on more than one transmitter, go to next step. If any functions are inoperative on only one transmitter, check battery contacts on transmitter. Replace battery. If all functions are okay, system is okay. If all functions are not operating on one transmitter, replace transmitter.
  3. If one or two of the same functions are inoperative on all transmitters, go to next step. If one or two of the same functions operate on all transmitters, synchronize and/or reprogram transmitter(s). See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION  or PROGRAMMING. If transmitters still do not operate, check battery contacts on transmitters. Replace batteries and/or transmitters as necessary.
  4. If one or two of the same functions are inoperative on all transmitters, turn ignition on. Connect scan tool. If Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 1695 or 1696 is set, go to testing for that respective code. If DTC 1695 or 1696 is not set, continue with testing by symptom.
