A/C Compressor Clutch Stays Engaged

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Locate A/C relay in underhood junction block and install a known good unit (keep old relay). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If A/C compressor clutch stays engaged, go to next step. If A/C compressor clutch disengages, discard old relay. Ensure proper compressor operation.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reinstall old relay. Disconnect underhood junction block Black 68-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If A/C compressor clutch stays engaged, go to next step. If A/C compressor clutch disengages, use scan tool and verify A/C option has been selected. Check for short to ground in Gray wire between PCM Light Blue 32-pin connector terminal "J1D01" and underhood junction block Black 68-pin connector terminal "C12". If Gray wire is okay, replace PCM. Ensure proper compressor operation.
  3. Check for short to battery voltage in Dark Green wire between underhood junction block Gray 68-pin connector terminal "F8" and A/C compressor clutch. If Dark Green wire is okay, replace A/C compressor clutch. Ensure proper compressor operation.
