Transmitter Programming

  1. Ensure all transmitters that will be programmed are present, even if only one is new. Put key in ignition. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) on bottom of left side of trim panel under steering column.
  2. Connect jumper wire between DLC connector terminals No. 8 (program circuit) and No. 4 (ground). Grounding program circuit causes horn to chirp. Count number of horn chirps. Number of horn chirps will correspond to mode RKE module is in. See SECURITY SYSTEM MODE CHART  . To obtain desired mode, cycle ignition key number of times that correspond to desired mode. Ensure key ends up in LOCK/ACCESSORY position after cycling, to allow programming of module.
  3. While keeping program circuit grounded, simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on transmitter for about 15 seconds. Horn will chirp number of times corresponding to mode programmed. If there is no response, repeat this step, ensuring both buttons are pressed down firmly. If there is still no response, check transmitter battery and battery contacts. If only programming RKE module with one transmitter, go to step 5).
  4. Ensure program circuit is still grounded and repeat step 3) with second transmitter. Do not allow more than one minute to elapse between programming transmitters, or RKE module will exit programming mode and procedure will have to be repeated. If ground wire is accidentally disconnected from DLC, programming procedure will have to be restarted from the beginning.
  5. Remove jumper wire. Test operation of each transmitter. Close deck lid or liftgate.
