Code 14, Switched Battery Circuit Open: Notes
NOTE:
To identify circuits and terminals referenced in text and flowcharts, see WIRING DIAGRAM
.
ABS module receives battery voltage when system enable relay contacts are closed. Voltage at switched battery terminal provides power for ABS motors and solenoids. If ABS module detects fault in this circuit, ABS operation will be disabled, and ABS and BRAKE warning lights will illuminate.
Code 14 will set if switched battery circuit is open. Code 86 will also set and illuminate BRAKE warning light if rear ABS motor is not in home position. Code 14 will not set if a previous failure has already disabled ABS. Code 14 will set any time after ABS module commands enable relay on. Relay is first commanded on when ignition is turned on and during bulb check.
