Code 44, Code 45, Code 46: Motor Frozen: Notes
NOTE:
To identify circuits and terminals referenced in text and flowcharts, see WIRING DIAGRAM
.
There are 3 Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) actuator motors: one for each front brake, and one for rear brakes. Major components of each motor assembly are a motor, drive gear assembly, ball screw, nut, piston, and check valve. If, for example, ABS module determines that left front wheel is about to skid, it closes solenoid by-pass valve. Left front motor retracts piston to close check valve. Brake pressure is then modulated by hydraulic piston, under control of ABS module. If motor is frozen, ABS operation will be disabled and ABS light will illuminate.
Code will set if motor is frozen, or ESB does not release motor. This code can only be set during initialization.
