Programming Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
When programming procedure is performed, DTC P1631 will set in PCM (this is normal). When DTC P1631 sets, turn ignition off for 30 seconds, then turn ignition on. DTC P1631 should clear. If DTC P1631 does not clear, go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
NOTE:
Maintain proper battery voltage during programming procedure and perform steps as specified, or programming procedure will have to be repeated.
- Using scan tool, select NEW BCM SETUP. Program BCM with correct RPO code configuration.
- Using scan tool, check for proper communication between BCM and PCM. If components cannot communicate, diagnose and repair problem as necessary. If BCM and PCM are communicating properly, go to next step.
