Circuit Description
PCM compares MAP sensor values with TP sensor values. The MAP sensor is a variable resistor that responds to changes in intake manifold pressure. Voltage ranges from 1.0-1.5 volts at idle (high vacuum) to 4.5-4.8 volts at wide open throttle (low vacuum). The TP sensor is a potentiometer which responds to changes in throttle plate angle. At closed throttle position, output of sensor is low (about .35 volt). As throttle plate opens, output signal increases (greater than 4.6 volts).
DTC will set if MAP value is out of range for greater than 9 seconds when:
- DTC P0107, P0108, P0117, P0118, P0122, P0123, P0131, P0132, P0171, P0172, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0300, P0336, P0340, P0341, P0440, P0442, P0502, P0506, P0507 or P01441 is not set.
- Engine speed between 600-6375 RPM on A/T or 900-6375 RPM on M/T.
- RPM change less than 50 RPM.
- Engine run time greater than 40 seconds.
- TCC change less than 2.5 percent.
- IAC change less than 5 counts.
- Throttle angle less than 2 percent.
