Transaxle Range Switch

NOTE: Adjust switch so engine starts with transmission in Park or Neutral only.
  1. Make sure transaxle manual shaft is in Neutral position. Remove shift control cable from transaxle range switch lever. Remove transaxle range switch lever nut and lever.
  2. Insert Transaxle Range Switch Alignment Tool (J41545) as shown. See Fig 1. Rotate switch until tool drops into position.
  3. Tighten transaxle range switch bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Remove alignment tool. Install transaxle range switch lever and nut. Tighten transaxle range switch lever nut to specification.
  4. Install shift control cable to transaxle range switch lever and verify that engine starts only in Park or Neutral. If engine starts in any other position, readjust switch.
