"K" Body (Deville - With Column Shifter)
- Install scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, command park relay on. If relay clicks, go to step 6. If relay does not click, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect park relay. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light connected to ground, probe coil side power feed circuit of park relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light does not illuminate, go to step 16. If test light illuminates, go to next step.
- Connect a test light between control circuit and coil side power feed circuit of park relay. Using scan tool, command park relay on and off. If test light illuminates on and off with each command, go to step 12. If test light does not illuminate on and off with each command, go to next step.
- If test light does not remain illuminated with each command, test control circuit of park relay for an open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If condition was corrected, go to step 23. If condition was not corrected, go to step 13. If test light remains illuminated with each command, go to next step.
- Check control circuit of park relay for a short to ground. Repair as necessary. If condition was corrected, go to step 23. If condition was not corrected, go to step 13.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect park relay. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light connected to ground, probe switch side power feed circuit of park relay. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 17. If test light illuminates, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect park relay. Disconnect brakelight switch connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light connected to ground, probe power feed circuit of brakelight switch connector. Using scan tool, command park relay on. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9. If test light illuminates, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect brakelight switch connector. Disconnect BTSI solenoid connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using test light connected to ground, probe power feed circuit of BTSI solenoid connector. Using scan tool, command park relay on. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 10. If test light illuminates, go to step 11.
