Test A: Power Seat Inoperative

  1. Check PWR SEATS (20-amp) mini-fuse located in Right Instrument Panel Fuse Block (RIPFB). If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse. Check power seat operation. If fuse blows again, check for short in Orange wire between RIPFB 36-pin connector terminal A5 and power seat switch. See Figure . Repair Orange wire as necessary. If Orange wire circuit is okay, replace power seat switch.
  2. Using a DVOM connected to ground, check for voltage at power seat switch connector Orange wire terminal. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step  4 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  3. Check for continuity between ground and power seat switch connector Black wire terminal. If continuity exists, replace power seat switch. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Recheck system operation.
  4. Check for battery voltage between ground and Orange wire terminal at 8-pin in-line connector located under driver's seat. If battery voltage exists, check for an open in Orange wire between power seat switch and power seat switch. Repair Orange wire as necessary. Check power operation of driver seat. Check heater operation of driver's seat (if equipped). If heated seat is inoperable, go to TEST E: SEAT HEATER INOPERATIVE  . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Connect DVOM between ground and RIPFB 36-pin connector terminal A5 (Orange wire). See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If battery voltage does not exist, replace RIPFB and retest power seat operation. If battery voltage exists, repair open in Orange wire between RIPFB 36-pin connector terminal A5 and driver's seat 8-pin in-line connector located under driver's seat. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
