Test C: Power Seat Height Adjuster Inoperable
NOTE:
Power seat height motor may also be referred to as seat bottom height adjuster motor.
- Verify power seat height up or down adjustment functions are inoperable. Ensure all other functions of power seat are operational. If height adjustment is the only malfunction, go to next step. If entire seat is inoperable, see TEST A: POWER SEAT INOPERATIVE .
- Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe for voltage at power seat switch connector Green/Black wire terminal with appropriate power seat switch in up position. Then backprobe power seat switch connector Green wire terminal with appropriate power seat switch in down position. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage exists at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage does not exist at either or both terminals, replace power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Connect DVOM between ground and specified wire terminal of power seat height motor connector while operating power seat switch in appropriate position. With power seat switch in up position, voltage should exist at Green/Black wire terminal of power seat height motor connector. With appropriate power seat switch in down position, voltage should exist at Green wire terminal of power seat height motor connector. If voltage exists at both terminals when specified, replace power seat height motor. If voltage does not exist at any terminal when specified, check for an open in wire that has no voltage between power seat switch and power seat height motor. Repair wiring as necessary.
