DTC C0245: Wheel Speed Sensor Frequency Error
Wheel speed sensors are located at all 4 wheels. These sensors produce an AC signal that EBTCM uses to calculate wheel speed. The signal frequency changes with vehicle speed. DTC will set when EBTCM cannot specifically identify which sensor is causing the malfunction.
DTC will set when one of following is present: EBTCM detects a deviation between left and right rear wheel speeds of greater than 3.75 MPH with vehicle speed of less than 62 MPH on vehicles equipped with TCS. EBTCM detects a deviation between left and right front wheel speeds of greater than 6.25 MPH with vehicle speed of less than 62 MPH. EBTCM detects a deviation between left and right wheel speeds of greater than 6 percent of vehicle speed of greater than 62 MPH on vehicles equipped with TCS. EBTCM detects a deviation between left and right front wheel speeds at greater than 62 MPH.
When DTC is set, EBTCM will disable ABS, traction control and Dynamic Rear Proportioning (DRP). ABS indicator light will illuminate. Check for faulty terminals, wiring or damaged wheel speed sensor ring. Check for foreign material in wheel speed sensor ring teeth gap. Check for worn front hub bearing assembly or worn inner axle bearing allowing sensor toothed ring gap to change excessively.
