Test B: Traction Control Switch Indicator Led Circuit Low

  1. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, command traction control switch indicator LED on and off. If LED follows command, problem is intermittent. If LED does not follow command, go to next step.
  2. Check IGN3 fuse, located in instrument panel fuse block. Replace as necessary. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect traction control switch 8-pin harness connector. Connect a test light between switch harness connector terminals "A" (Brown wire) and "B" (Blue wire). Using scan tool, command switch indicator LED on and off. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  5. If test light follows command, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, check for short to ground in circuit No. 1660 (Blue wire) between switch and BCM. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, replace BCM.
  4. Check for terminal tightness in traction control switch connector. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, check for faulty LED in traction control switch. Repair or replace as necessary.
  5. Connect test light between chassis ground and traction control switch harness connector terminal "A" (Brown wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, check for open IGN3 fuse, located in instrument panel fuse block. Check for open or short in circuit between instrument panel fuse block and traction control switch. Repair as necessary.
  6. Check for open in circuit No. 1660 (Blue wire) between traction control switch and BCM. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, check for terminal tightness at connector. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, replace BCM.
