Controller Area Network

Controller Area Network (CAN) link is used by vehicles equipped with V6 engine. CAN data link is used by Engine Control Module (ECM), Transaxle Control Module (TCM) and Body Control Module (BCM). BCM can communicate on both CAN link and class-2 serial data link. Information sent over CAN link to BCM is converted to a class-2 serial data message to Data Link Connector (DLC). CAN link is not connected to DLC and is used only for sharing information between control modules.
