Body Control Module Diagnostic System Check

  1. If vehicle on-board diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If vehicle on-board diagnostic system check has not been performed, see VEHICLE ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Connect all disconnected components. Connect scan tool to DLC. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, perform TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION ON CLASS 2 DATA LINK  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  3. Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTC function for BCM. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If any DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  4. Using scan tool, review any history BCM DTCs and clear all DTCs. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, retrieve BCM DTCs. If no DTCs are retrieved, system is okay at this time. If any DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
