1.9L, 2.2L & 3.0L
- Turn ignition on, engine off. Engine oil pressure indicator light should illuminate and remain on. If engine oil pressure indicator light illuminates, go to next step. If engine oil pressure indicator light does not illuminate, go to step 4.
- Start engine and let idle for about one minute. Engine oil pressure indicator light should turn off and remain off. If engine oil pressure indicator light remains on, go to next step.
- Disconnect engine oil pressure switch. If engine oil pressure indicator light remains on, check for short in ground circuit (Tan wire on 1.9L; Tan/Black wire on all others). If engine oil pressure indicator light turns off, replace engine oil pressure switch.
- Disconnect engine oil pressure switch. Using jumper wire, ground engine oil pressure switch circuit (Tan wire on 1.9L; Tan/Black wire on all others). If engine oil pressure indicator light illuminates, replace switch. If engine oil pressure indicator light does not illuminate, diagnose instrument cluster and circuits. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
