Diagnostic Aids

Check harness connectors for proper connection. Using scan tool, review malfunction history data and attempt to reproduce the conditions and fault. Check for foreign material or debris holding valve open. Replace EVAP purge solenoid if necessary.

PCM uses fuel tank pressure sensor to detect amount of vacuum pulled on EVAP system during the EVAP purge diagnostic. Ensure fuel pressure sensor is not skewed by verifying FUEL TANK PRESSURE on scan tool. Scan tool should indicate 1.3-1.7 volts with ignition on and fuel cap removed.
