Strut Assembly: Installation

  1. Position strut assembly in vehicle with upper strut mount studs inserted through body. Install NEW upper strut mount nuts, and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Attach strut to steering knuckle with bolts and NEW nuts, but DO NOT fully tighten. Push bottom of strut inward, toward center of vehicle, and hold in this position while tightening nuts to specification.
  3. Remove rust and corrosion from mounting surfaces of wheel and brake rotor. Install wheel. Check front wheel alignment. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
