Strut Assembly: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle, with front suspension hanging freely. Remove wheel.
- Loosen, but DO NOT remove, nuts securing strut to steering knuckle. See Figure . Remove and discard 3 upper strut mount nuts. Place a rag over CV joint boot to protect boot. While supporting strut assembly, remove bolts and nuts securing strut to steering knuckle and remove strut assembly. Discard nuts.
WARNING:
If nut on top of strut shaft is removed without first compressing strut spring, strut spring will forcefully expand, possibly causing personal injury.
