Fuel Injector Assembly (DOHC): Installation

NOTE: DOHC (LL0) and SOHC (L24) fuel injectors are not interchangeable. Verify that the correct fuel injectors are installed in the fuel rail. The fuel injectors are identified by color coded plastic rings located near the bottom of the fuel injectors. The 2000 model year DOHC injector is identified by a pink ring, and the 2001-02 model year DOHC injector is identified by a black plastic ring.

  1. Lubricate new fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil and install on fuel injector assembly.
  2. Install clip onto injector prior to installing injector to fuel rail.
  3. Install port fuel injector assembly into fuel rail, with fuel injector's electrical connector facing upward.
  4. Install fuel rail assembly. Refer to FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY (DOHC) "Fuel Rail Assembly Installation" procedure.
