Transmitter Inoperative

  1. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  2. Operate door lock switches located on driver/passenger doors. If power door locks operate properly, go to next step. If power door locks do not operate properly, go to POWER DOOR SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in POWER DOOR LOCKS - CORVETTE article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Place transmission in PARK (A/T), or apply parking brake (M/T). Press vehicle hatch or trunk release switch located on left side of instrument panel. If hatch or trunk releases, go to next step. If hatch or trunk does not release, go to BODY REAR END DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in POWER HATCH & FUEL DOOR RELEASE - CORVETTE article.
  4. Close driver/passenger doors. Ensure transmitter is within operating range. See OPERATIONAL RANGE  under OPERATION. Press LOCK button on transmitter. If driver and passenger doors lock, go to next step. If driver and passenger doors do not lock, go to step  7 .
  5. Press UNLOCK button on transmitter 2 times. First press will unlock driver door; second press will unlock passenger door. If driver and passenger doors unlock, go to next step. If driver and passenger doors do not unlock, go to step  7 .
  6. Turn ignition off. Ensure transmission in PARK (A/T), or parking brake is applied (M/T). Press transmitter hatch release button. If hatch or trunk releases, system is operating properly at this time. If hatch or trunk does not release, go to next step.
  7. Synchronize transmitter(s). See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING & SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING. Close driver/passenger doors. Use transmitter to operate door locks. If power door locks do not operate, go to next step. If power door locks operate, go to step  12 .
  8. Ensure transmitter battery is correct for transmitter and not installed properly, rundown or weak. If battery is okay, go to next step. If faulty battery is found or battery is installed incorrectly, replace or reinstall battery and go to step  12 .
  9. Using a known-good transmitter, program the transmitter. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING & SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING. Close driver/passenger doors. Use transmitter to operate door locks. If power door locks do not operate, go to next step. If power door locks operate, go to step  11 .
  10. Replace the remote control door lock receiver. See REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  12 .
  11. Replace inoperative transmitter and program. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING & SYNCHRONIZATION  under PROGRAMMING. After repairs, go to next step.
  12. Use transmitter to operate door locks. If power door locks do not operate, go to step  2 . If power door locks operate, repair is complete.
