Engine Coolant Level Switch: 1.9L

  1. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on, with engine off. If coolant level indicator comes on and stays on, go to next step. If coolant level indicator illuminates for about 3 seconds, and then turn off and remain off, system is okay.
  2. Disconnect low coolant level switch. Using test light, connected to battery ground, probe Pink wire at low coolant level harness connector. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, check B/U LAMP fuse (10-amp) in Underhood Fuse Block.
  3. With low coolant level switch disconnected, connect jumper wire between Pink wire and Yellow/Black wire at low coolant level switch harness connector. If low coolant level indicator on instrument panel remains illuminated, go to next step. If low coolant level indicator on instrument panel turns off replace low coolant level switch.
  4. Using scan tool, monitor low coolant level sensor. With jumper wire connected, scan tool should indicate OFF. If scan tool does not indicate OFF, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between low coolant level switch and PCM.
