Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, command EVAP purge solenoid on while monitoring EVAP PURGE - HIGH VOLT test. If scan tool indicates TEST FAIL, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate TEST FAIL, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  2. Disconnect EVAP purge solenoid harness connector. Connect a Noid Light (SA9194E) to EVAP purge solenoid harness connector. Using scan tool, command EVAP purge solenoid on and monitor EVAP PURGE - HIGH VOLT test. If scan tool does not indicate TEST PASS, check for short to voltage or PCM in EVAP purge solenoid circuit (Dark Green/White wire) to PCM. If scan tool indicates TEST PASS, replace EVAP purge solenoid.
