Removal & Installation: Generator: Installation

  1. Position the generator and install the top bolts finger tight.
  2. Install the bottom bolts and tighten all generator bolts. Tighten generator to engine bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m).
  3. Connect and tighten battery cable connection at the generator. Tighten to 12 ft. lbs (16 N.m).
  4. Install accessory drive belt.
  5. Install throttle body air duct.
  6. Connect and tighten negative battery cable. Tighten battery terminal bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (17 N.m).
  7. Reprogram radio stations.


  1. Lower generator into the engine compartment and connect generator electrical connections. Tighten battery positive cable to generator nut to 12 ft. lbs. (16 N.m).
  2. Guide generator into engine block with the upper mounting bolt positioned in the generator mounting hole.
  3. Position generator and install the upper mounting bolts and finger tighten.
  4. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  5. Install lower generator mounting bolts.
  6. Lower vehicle.
  7. Tighten upper generator mounting bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 N.m).
  8. Install belt tensioner to engine block. Tighten belt tensioner bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 N.m).
  9. Install accessory drive belt.
  10. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten battery terminal bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (17 N.m).
  11. Reprogram the radio stations.
