Diagnostic Aids
If DTC P0102 or P0103 is also set, diagnose that DTC first. See DTC P0102: MAF SENSOR CIRCUIT - LOW SIGNAL/FREQUENCY or DTC P0103: MAF SENSOR CIRCUIT - HIGH SIGNAL/FREQUENCY . DTC P0101 may also set if a circuit fault exists in the MAF sensor circuit.
Ensure MAF reads zero grams/second (near 1.02 volts) with engine off.
Check for vacuum leaks, air induction tubing loose or cracked, corroded MAF sensor harness connector, carbon build-up on throttle plate or faulty MAF sensor.
If an electrical fault is present, DTC will become active while electrical fault condition is present.
