Diagnostic Procedures

  1. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool, command FUEL PUMP RELAY on and off while listening for the relay clicking in the UHFB. If relay clicks, problem is intermittent. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  . If relay does not click, go to next step.
  2. Check ENGINE CNTRL 3 fuse. Replace fuse as necessary. Replace fuel pump relay with front wiper relay in UHFB or replace with a known good relay. Using scan tool, command FUEL PUMP RELAY on and off. If relay clicks, check relay connector. If connector is okay, replace fuel pump relay. If relay does not click, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Connect test light between ground and relay coil ignition feed in underhood fuse block. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in relay coil ignition feed circuit in underhood fuse block. If test light illuminates, check for open in Light Green wire between fuel pump relay and ECM. Repair as necessary. If circuit is okay, check connectors at fuse block. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, replace ECM.
