Wheel Alignment Specifications

IMPORTANT: When measuring alignment angles, it is critical that vehicle curb trim height be within specifications. If not correct, add or remove weight until trim height is correct. Refer to "Curb Trim Heights".
IMPORTANT: When performing a wheel alignment after any suspension system component removal and installation, the vehicle must be driven and/or the suspension system worked, manually bounced at least 20 times, to allow components to locate properly before alignment adjustment.
  1. Install the alignment equipment in accordance with the equipment manufacturers instructions.
  2. Adjust the tire pressures to the correct specifications
    • 207 kPa (30 psi) tire pressure - Front Tires
    • 179 kPa (26 psi) tire pressure - Rear Tires
  3. Inspect the frame-to-body alignment at the 2 front frame alignment holes using a 9/16 in rod. If the frame-to-body alignment is not correct, loosen the frame fasteners and align the frame-to-body.
  4. Measure the alignment angles for each wheel.

Cross camber and cross caster specifications refer to the difference between the left and right side angles. Cross camber and cross caster can influence vehicle steering pull tendencies. Usually, alignment results will be best when these measurements are as close to zero as possible.

(L) - (R) = CROSS

For example: If the LF camber equals -0.90 minus a RF camber equal to +0.50 the resulting cross camber would equal -1.40 which is OUT OF SPEC and NOT OK. (0.90) - (+0.50) = -1.40. If the LF camber is equals -0.60 minus a RF camber of -0.30 the resulting cross camber would equal -0.30 which is WITHIN SPEC and OK. (-0.60) - (-0.30) = -0.30.
