Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in Air Bag Restraint Systems.
  2. Remove the automatic transaxle control assembly. Refer to SHIFT CONTROL REPLACEMENT in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E (Overhaul).
  3. Using an electrical terminal pick, remove the solenoid electrical terminals from the connector body.

  4. Using a 5/32 in. drill bit, drill out the rivet attaching the solenoid to control assembly.

  5. Remove the shift lock control solenoid.
