Installation Procedure

  1. Using the SA9218NE  , install the power steering pulley hub to the power steering pump. See Special Tools .

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the power steering pump to the power steering pump bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the pump to bracket bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

    IMPORTANT: Inspect the power steering hose O-ring and replace if necessary.
  3. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  4. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

  5. Install the Power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement .

  6. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.0L (L81).
  7. Fill the power steering reservoir and bleed air from the system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
