Installation Procedure

  1. Install the PCM electrical connectors (4).
  2. Install the PCM (2) into the air cleaner assembly (3).
  3. Install the air cleaner assembly cover (1).
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the air cleaner assembly cover screws.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

  6. Install the left sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Brace Replacement - Sheet Metal Diagonal (Chevrolet) or Brace Replacement - Sheet Metal Diagonal (Pontiac) or Brace Replacement - Sheet Metal Diagonal (Buick) in Body Front End.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  8. If a new PCM is being installed, program the EEPROM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems.
