Installation Procedure
- Install the power steering pressure hose.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the power steering pressure hose to the pump.
Tighten: Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Install the power steering hose retainer to the power steering gear.
- Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Diagnosis in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install a utility stand in order to support the frame assembly.
- Remove the frame rear bolts.
- Use the utility stand in order to lower the frame rear to gain access.
- Connect the power steering hose to the steering gear.
Tighten: Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
- Install the power steering gear hose clip.
- Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Power Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
- Use the utility stand in order to raise the frame rear.
- Install the frame rear bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 165 N.m (122 lb ft).
- Remove the utility stand.
- Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
