Installation Procedure

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Connect the power steering pressure hose to the pump.
Tighten: Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
Install the power steering hose retainer to the power steering gear.
Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Diagnosis in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
Raise the vehicle.
Install a utility stand in order to support the frame assembly.
Remove the frame rear bolts.
Use the utility stand in order to lower the frame rear to gain access.

Connect the power steering hose to the steering gear.
Tighten: Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).
Install the power steering gear hose clip.
Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Power Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
Use the utility stand in order to raise the frame rear.
Install the frame rear bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 165 N.m (122 lb ft).
Remove the utility stand.
Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
Lower the vehicle.
Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
