Keyless Entry System Inoperative

Step Action Yes No
1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
2 Press each button on the transmitter one at a time.
Does the system operate normally?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections Go to Step 3 
3 Lock and unlock the door locks using the controls inside the vehicle.
Do the locks operate properly?
Go to Step 4  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
4 Operate the rear compartment release using the controls inside the vehicle.
Does the rear compartment release operate properly?
Go to Step 5  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

IMPORTANT: While viewing scan tool remote keyless entry (RKE) data and pressing and releasing each button, Lock, Unlock, Trunk and Panic, one at a time on the transmitter the displayed data should cycle between ON and OFF.
  1. Turn ignition to RUN.
  2. Connect scan tool and select body control module (BCM).
  3. Select Data Display.
  4. Select Door Lock Data
  5. Scroll down list to RKE Low Battery.
Does the scan tool display YES or NO?
Go to Step 6  Go to Step 7 
6 Replace the transmitter battery. Refer to Transmitter Battery Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 7  -
7 View scanner data again for RKE Low Battery, what does the scanner display now, YES or NO? Go to Step 8  Go to Step 11 
8 Replace the transmitter.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 9  -
9 Perform the programming procedure. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
Did the locks cycle to lock then unlock?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 10 
10 Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 11  -
11 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 3
