Inspection Procedure
- INSPECT ECM (+B VOLTAGE)
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage between the specified terminals of the E4 and E6 ECM connectors.
Standard:
STANDARDTester Connection Specified Condition +B (E6-1) - E1 (E4-7) 9 to 14 V
- OK : REPLACE ECM (See REPLACEMENT )
- NG : Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND)

- Disconnect the E4 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
STANDARD (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition E1 (E4-7) - Body ground Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the ECM connector.
- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- INSPECT IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSY
- Disconnect the I10 ignition switch connector.
- Measure the resistance between the connector terminals shown in the chart below.INSPECT
Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition LOCK All Terminals 10 kΩ Or Higher ACC 1-3 Below 1 Ω ON 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, 5-6 Below 1 Ω START 4-5, 4-6, 5-6, 1-2 Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the ignition switch connector.
- NG : REPLACE IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSY
- OK : Go to next step.
- CHECK FUSE (EFI FUSE)
- Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room R/B No.1.
- Check for continuity in the EFI fuse.
Standard: Continuity
- Reinstall the EFI fuse.
- NG : CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND COMPONENTS CONNECTED FUSE
- OK : Go to next step.
- INSPECT EFI RELAY
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B.
- Inspect the EFI relay.
Standard:
INSPECT EFI RELAYTester Connection Specified Condition 1 - 2 Continuity 3 - 5 No Continuity Continuity (Apply Battery Voltage To Terminals 1 & 2) - Reinstall the EFI relay.
- NG : REPLACE EFI RELAY
- OK : Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EFI RELAY - ECM, EFI RELAY - BODY GROUND)
- Check the harness and connector between the EFI relay and ECM connector.

- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B.
- Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
STANDARD (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition EFI relay (3) - +B (E6-1) Below 1 Ω Standard (Check for short):
STANDARD (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connection Specified Condition EFI relay (3) Or +B (E6-1) - Body Ground 10 kΩ Or Higher - Reinstall the EFI relay.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Check the harness and connector between the EFI relay and body ground.

- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- Check the harness and connector between the EFI relay and ECM connector.
- CHECK FUSE (AM2 FUSE)
- Remove the AM2 fuse from the engine room R/B.
- Check for continuity in the AM2 fuse.
Standard: Continuity
- Reinstall the AM2 fuse.
- NG : CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND COMPONENTS CONNECTED FUSE
- OK : Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EFI RELAY - EFI FUSE)
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B.
- Remove the EFI fuse from the engine room R/B.
- Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
STANDARD (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition EFI Relay (5) - EFI fuse (2) Below 1 Ω Standard (Check for short):
STANDARD (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connection Specified Condition EFI relay (5) - EFI fuse (2) - Body Ground 10 kΩ Or Higher - Reinstall the EFI relay.
- Reinstall the EFI fuse.
- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EFI RELAY - IGNITION SWITCH)

- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B.
- Disconnect the I10 ignition switch connector.

- Reconnect the ignition switch connector.
- NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK : Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION SWITCH - AM2 FUSE)

- OK : CHECK AND REPAIR HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AM2 FUSE - BATTERY POSITIVE TERMINAL, EFI FUSE - BATTERY POSITIVE TERMINAL)
