Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (2AZ-FE): Replacement

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.
SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS

System Refer To
Power window control system INITIALIZATION
Sliding roof system INITIALIZATION
  1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (see  ENGINE COOLANT (2AZ-FE)  ) 
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  3. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
    2. Using SST, remove the engine coolant temperature sensor and gasket.
      1. SST 09817-33190

  4. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Install a new gasket onto the engine coolant temperature sensor.
    2. Using SST, install the engine coolant temperature sensor.
      1. SST 09817-33190
      2. Torque: 19.6 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) 
    3. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

  5. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
    1. Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) 
  6. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (see  ENGINE COOLANT (2AZ-FE)  ) 
  7. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE (see  COOLING SYSTEM (2AZ-FE)  )
