Fuel System: Inspection

INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSY

Inspect the resistance.
1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
  Resistance: 13.4 to 14.2 Ω. at 20°C (68°F)
  
  If the resistance is not as specified, replace the injector.

Inspect the injector operation.

CAUTION:

Perform the test in a well-ventilated area and watch out for flames.
Carefully handle the fuel tube connector.

Pull out the connector from a new fuel tube.

Connect SST and the fuel tube connector to the fuel pipe.
SST 09268-41047 (95336-08070).

CAUTION: After taking the precaution, connect the fuel tube connected (quick type).

Install the grommet and O-ring onto the injector.
Connect SST (union and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp).

Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.
HINT:

Install a suitable vinyl tube onto the injector to prevent gasoline splashes.
Operate the fuel pump. (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

Injection volume:

INJECTION VOLUME

Injection volume	Difference between each injector
47 to 58 cm³ (2.9 to 3.5 cu in.) per 15 seconds	11 cm³ (0.6 cu in.) or less

NOTE: Always do the switching at the battery side.

If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.

Inspect the leakage.
1. In the condition above, disconnect the test probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.
  Fuel drop: 1 drop or less in 12 minutes

INSPECT FUEL PUMP
1. Inspect the fuel pump resistance.
  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals.
    Resistance: 0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
2. Check the fuel pump operation.
  1. Apply battery voltage between terminals. Check that the pump operates.

  NOTE:
  - These tests must be done quickly (within 10 seconds) to prevent coil burnout.
  - Keep fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
  - Away do the switching at the battery side.
  If the operation is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.
