Knock Sensor: Replacement

DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See REPLACEMENT )
REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSY (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
SEPARATE ACCELERATOR CONTROL CABLE ASSY (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL GAGE SUB-ASSY (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE)
REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSY (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE) (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
SEPARATE THROTTLE BODY ASSY
1. Disconnect the ISC valve connector.
2. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector. (MANUAL TRANSAXLE)
3. Remove the wire harness clamp.
4. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, then remove the accelerator control cable bracket and throttle body.
5. Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER NO.2
1. Remove the 4 nuts and cylinder head cover.

DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET

REMOVE OIL LEVEL GAGE SUB-ASSY
REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
1. Disconnect the ventilation hose.
2. Disconnect the union to connector tube hose.

3. Remove the 3 wire harness clamps.
4. In order to remove the intake manifold, using several steps, remove the 3 bolts and 2 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
5. Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR
1. Disconnect the knock sensor connector.
2. Using SST, remove the knock sensor.

  SST 09816-30010
INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR
1. Using SST, install the knock sensor.
  SST 09816-30010
  
  Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)
2. Connect the knock sensor connector.
INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD
1. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.
2. Install the intake manifold with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts. Using several steps, tighten the bolts and nuts uniformly in the sequence shown in the illustration.
  Torque: 30 N.m (306 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
3. Install the 3 wire harness clamps.
4. Connect the union to connector tube hose.
5. Connect the ventilation hose.

INSTALL OIL LEVEL GAGE SUB-ASSY
CONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET
INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER NO.2
1. Install the cylinder head cover.
2. First tighten nut A, then tighten nut B.
  Torque: 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf)

INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSY
1. Install a new gasket onto the intake manifold.
2. Install the throttle body and accelerator control cable bracket with the bolt and 2 nuts.
  Torque: 30 N.m (306 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
3. Install the wire harness clamp.
4. Connect the throttle position sensor connector. (MANUAL TRANSAXLE)
5. Connect the ISC valve connector.

INSTALL TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL GAGE SUB-ASSY (AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE)
INSTALL ACCELERATOR CONTROL CABLE ASSY (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSY (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY )
ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See REPLACEMENT )
CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
