Knock Sensor: Removal
- DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE (See )
- DRAIN COOLANT (See COOLANT )
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE WIPER LINK (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER
- Remove the wire harness clamp.
- Remove the 7 bolts and panel.
- REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING BRACKET LOWER LH
- Remove the bolt, clip and bracket.
- REMOVE ENGINE COVER (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP (see REMOVAL )
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY (see REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FUEL TUBE
- Remove the fuel tube clamp.
- Pinch the retainer as illustrated, and then pull the fuel tube connector out of the pipe.
NOTE:- Remove any dirt and foreign objects on the fuel tube connector before performing this work.
- When disconnecting the connector, do not damage the connector and pipe, and do not allow foreign matter to contact the connector and pipe. Damage or foreign matter may damage the O-ring that seals the pipe and lead to leaks.
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.
- Protect the disconnected part by covering it with a plastic bag after disconnecting the fuel tube.
- If the fuel tube connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.
- REMOVE HEATER WATER INLET HOSE
- Remove the hose clamp.
- Remove the heater water inlet hose from the heater radiator unit and cylinder head.
- REMOVE HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE
- Remove the heater water outlet hose from the heater radiator unit and water by-pass pipe.
- REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
- Disconnect the union to check valve hose from the brake booster.
- Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
- Remove the wire harness clamp.
- Remove the union to check valve hose from the vacuum hose clamp.
- Remove the 5 bolts, 2 nuts and intake manifold.
- Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.
- REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD INSULATOR
- Remove the intake manifold insulator from the cylinder block.
- REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR
- Disconnect the sensor connector.
- Remove the nut and sensor.
