Throttle Body: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 
  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
    2. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    3. Detach the wire harness clamp.
    4. Disconnect the No. 2 purge line hose.
    5. Disconnect the ventilation hose.
    6. Disconnect the No. 1 purge line hose.
    7. Unlock the 2 clamp hooks.
    8. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the air cleaner case.

    9. Remove the air cleaner filter element.
    10. Remove the 4 bolts and air cleaner case.

  4. REMOVE ACCELERATOR CONTROL CABLE 
    1. Loosen the nut and disconnect the accelerator control cable.

  5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUBASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) 
    1. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the hose.
    3. Remove the bolt and oil cooler tube clamp.
    4. Remove the bolt and transmission oil filler tube.
    5. Remove the O-ring from the transmission oil filler tube.

  6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the IAC valve connector.
    2. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector (for manual transaxle).
    3. Remove the wire harness clamp.
    4. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, then remove the accelerator control cable bracket and throttle body.
    5. Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

    6. Disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose.
    7. Disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose.
