Idle Air Control Valve: Inspection
- INSPECT IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY NOTE:
- Since the IAC valve has an internal IC circuit which converts the ECM duty signal into the drive signal, it is impossible to check its resistor value and valve operation with the valve alone.
- Clear the DTC after inspection.
HINT:
DTC P0505 (see DTC P0505 IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION; DTC P0511 IDLE AIR CONTROL CIRCUIT ) will be set when the IAC valve is stuck.
- Connect the IAC valve connector to the IAC valve.
- Inspect the valve movement when the ignition switch is turned ON.
Standard movement: Half open --> fully closed --> fully open --> half open
HINT:
The series of the valve movements mentioned above occur within 0.5 seconds.
