Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Inspection

INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Measure the resistance of the sensor.

Standard resistance

TESTER CONNECTION - SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 - 2	20°C (68°F)	2.29 to 2.60 kΩ
1 - 2	80°C (176°F)	0.301 to 0.327 kΩ

NOTE: If checking the engine coolant temperature sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to intrude the terminals. After checking, dry the sensor.

If the result is not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
