Location

The camshaft Hall sensor is located on the left on the cylinder head in the area of the intake camshaft.

Task

The camshaft Hall sensor transmits the respective position of the intake camshaft as a square wave signal to the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

Function

Detection of the positions of the camshafts takes place through recognition of the positions of the quadrants mounted on the intake camshaft

Signals are generated according to the camshaft revolution. Here the signals switch between about 5 V (high) and about 0 V (low). If there is a Hall sensor opposite the "cutout in the pulse wheel" the signal is about 5 V.

IMPORTANT Signal failure is compensated for by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit by the signal from the crankshaft position sensor (L5). However, a precise calculation of the injection timing point is no longer possible.
