Solenoid Valve

  1. Inspect the vacuum passage for proper opening and closing when applying electrical current on both positive and negative terminals. If passage opens and closes, component is normal. If not, replace solenoid valve.
  2. Check the resistance between positive or negative terminal and body of solenoid valve I. Standard resistance is 1 M/ohms or more. If valve is not within limits, replace solenoid valve.
  3. Measure resistance between the positive and negative terminals. Specified resistance is 32.7-39.9 ohms. If valve is not within limits, replacement is necessary.
NOTE: With current off, solenoid valve plunger is forced upward by spring pressure, closing off passage between "A" and "B" and opening passage between "B" and "C". With current on, plunger is attracted downward, opening passage between "A" and "B" and closing passage between "B" and "C". See Fig 1 .
