EGR System: Description
NOTE:
Information for 1.6L models is not available.
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system is used to help control formation of NOx emissions. By introducing exhaust gases back into the intake system, top combustion temperatures are lowered, which helps keep NOx emissions down.
The system consists of an EGR valve, EGR pipe, thermo vacuum valve. Except for Federal 2WD and 4WD auto. trans. equipped models, all models use an EGR leak orifice.
