Battery Specifications
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicles equipped with computers may lose memory data. When battery power is restored, driveability problems may exist on some vehicles. These vehicles may require a relearn procedure. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.
Battery is located in the engine compartment. All 1983-88 vehicles are delivered with a maintenance-free battery and water need never be added. Under normal conditions, battery delivered with 1989 vehicles is maintenance-free and does not require additional water. However, under severe conditions it is advisable to check battery fluid to ensure adequate fluid level in the battery. Use only distilled water to fill battery cell should it become necessary to add water to battery. On some models, battery charge condition can be checked by a visual test indicator on top of battery. A Blue signal implies adequate charge level in the battery and a White or Red signal indicates charging is required.
