Oxygen Sensor

The oxygen sensor is mounted on the center exhaust pipe between the turbocharger and the rear exhaust pipe. It is used to sense oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas. The oxygen sensor has a zirconia (ceramic) tube which generates voltage if there is a difference in oxygen concentration between inside and outside of the tube.

By sending this information to MPFI control unit, air/fuel ratio of supplied mixture can be determined easily. Characteristics of the voltage stabilize at temperatures of approximately 572-752° F (300-400° C).
