Airflow Meter

Remove rubber cover from electrical connector on airflow meter. Leave connector connected. Connect volt/ohmmeter between terminals and record readings. See AIRFLOW METER RESISTANCE  table. If readings are not to specifications, check electrical wiring. If wiring is okay, replace airflow sensor.

NOTE: DO NOT  start engine during this test. Place the ignition switch in the "OFF" or "ON" position as indicated.
AIRFLOW METER RESISTANCE

Ignition Switch Wire Colors Readings
SPFI
Off Black-Ground 0-10 Ohms
On Red-Ground 10 Volts Min.
On White-Black (1) .1-.5 Volts
MPFI Non-Turbo
Off Black-Ground 0-10 Ohms
Off Brown-Ground 0-10 Ohms
On Red-Ground 10 Volts Min.
On White-Brown (1) 1-2 Volts
MPFI Turbo
Off Black-Ground 0-10 Ohms
Off Brown-Ground 0-10 Ohms
On No. 2-Ground 10 Volts Min.
On No. 5-Brown (1) 1-2 Volts
(1) Voltage should be higher when blowing air from air cleaner side.
