Automatic Transmission

  1. If voltage does not exist in any of the following circuit tests, check wiring for opens or shorts, or replace faulty component.
  2. Turn ignition switch to START position. Check for near battery voltage at ignition switch "S" terminal (Black/Yellow wire). If voltage exists, check for near battery voltage at Black/Yellow wire terminal of transmission inhibitor switch. Inhibitor switch is located on drivers gear select lever, under console.
  3. If voltage exists at Black/Yellow wire terminal of transmission inhibitor switch, check for voltage at inhibitor switch's Black/White wire terminal when gear select lever is in Park or Neutral position.
  4. If voltage exists at inhibitor switch's Black/White wire terminal, check for near battery voltage at Black/White wires of ECVT unit harness connector. ECVT unit is located behind drivers left dash panel, above EFC/MPFI control unit.
  5. If voltage exists at both Black/White wires, check for near battery voltage at starter "S" terminal (Black/White wire). If voltage exists at starter solenoid, start circuit is good. Problem is with starter.
NOTE: No information is available for testing inhibitor switch or ECVT unit.
