Code 52: Clutch Switch - Electronic Controlled Variable Speed Transmission (ECVT)

NOTE: Refer to illustration for ECU connector and terminal identification. See Figure .
  1. Disconnect ECU connectors. Disconnect ECVT ECU connectors. Measure resistance between ECU connector and ECVT ECU connector and between ECU connector and ground. See ECVT CLUTCH SWITCH RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair harness and/or connector as necessary.
    ECVT CLUTCH SWITCH RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Measure Between Terminals Ohms
    No. 1 (1) & Ground Less Than 10
    No. 5 (2) & Ground Infinite
    No. 5 (2) & No. 4 (3) Less Than One
    No. 7 (4) & Ground Less Than 10
    No. 8 (4) & Ground Less Than 10
    No. 10 (2) & Ground Less Than 10
    (1) Measure at ECU connector F119.
    (2) Measure at ECU connector F120.
    (3) Yellow/Blue wire at ECVT ECU connector.
    (4) Black wire at ECVT ECU connector.
  2. Reconnect ECU connectors. Turn ignition on. Backprobe ECU connector F120 and measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Blue wire) of ECU. If voltage is about 8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 8 volts, check for poor ECU connector contact. Repair connector and/or wiring harness as necessary. If connector and wiring harness are okay, replace ECU.
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect ECVT ECU connectors. Turn ignition on. Start engine. Allow engine to idle. Backprobe ECU connector F120 and measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 5 (Yellow/Blue wire) of ECU. With shift lever in Neutral, voltage should be more than 8 volts. With shift lever in Drive, voltage should be less then 2.5 volts. If voltage is not as specified, check for poor ECVT ECU connector contact. Repair connector and/or wiring harness as necessary. If connector and wiring harness are okay, replace ECVT ECU. If voltage is as specified, check for poor ECU connector contact. Repair connector and/or wiring harness as necessary. If connector and wiring harness are okay, replace ECU.
